In 2026, the Charles County Commissioners began deliberating a PLA on projects over $20 million dollars that seek county approval.

WHAT THIS MEANS
- ANY PROJECT. Just not taxpayer-funded projects would be included within the scope of this PLA. Including housing, multi-use developments, and other private developments leading to increased costs and red-tape for builders and developers.
- An estimated increase of at least 20% on these projects along with well documented delays in construction and completion.
- Local contractors and businesses having the rug pulled from beneath them by being excluded not just from public projects. But from private projects as well.
